When Your Heart Finds a Home
July 14th, 2010Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue... Some mysterious laws make us remember and follow all traditions when this most awaited, yet a bit (let's be honest) dreadful day is looming up close – your wedding day. Yeah, right, you'll say that "it is the happiest day of my life", but only after all the guests are gone
.
Still, you can and should enjoy it because such days don't happen twice ( well, they shouldn't
). The key word here is planning, planning, and planning. It's all about the little things. What's the first thing that comes to your mind? A wedding gown – that's a big thing. It has to be perfect, the most beautiful dress in the world, at the very least. Once you find it, grab it and cherish it, but you aren't done yet.
It's time to think about a dainty string of pearls, or a classic bangle bracelet, or sparkling earrings. About some little thing or a few that will make you a queen.
What's the second big thing that comes to your mind when you think about your wedding? Your sweetheart? Nope. The cake. The ultimate cake ever. The choice here is so great that it can even become a problem, especially for such an indecisive person like me. But what I know for sure is that my wedding cake will be a small giant
. It will have several layers, but nothing garish or extreme. Just a simple floral ornament and a ribbon secured with a crystal brooch over the top layer.
So, it seems you're ready now to walk down the aisle in a church filled with family and friends. Is the wedding march giving you shivers already? And you fear your mirage, sorry, marriage will become an illusion
?
That's enough, I think. Now seriously, all silly jokes aside, your wedding day is a day when your heart finds a home – that's the biggest thing of all. Can there be anything more powerful, longed for and treasured than these words: "With this ring I thee wed, with my body I thee worship, and with all my worldly goods I thee endow"? Nothing.
