America's next top model, cycle 11
January 26th, 2009America's next top model started showing today on Living TV in the UK and it is cycle 11 already!
The futuristic environment of "model engineering" in the fictitious science lab ruled the set. Tyra and two Jays dressed up in all shining silver put through their paces a group of young hopefuls to become the America's Next Top Model.
I don't know why, but I have the feeling that all of the contestants look very similar to the previous cycle 10, I mean each one of them is look-a-like to someone from the previous series. It must because the same people pre-select them for the show every time and their tastes didn't change. It almost instantly strikes you that some of the selected girls are not models at all, some others are so-so, and the other few you could book for a shoot in a heartbeat.
It's not a secret that the looks alone won't get you far, it's the personality and the way you hold yourself in front of a camera that is important. I would go as far as saying that looks is not as important as the ability to feel the mood and the essence for the shoot.
On the other hand, even if you have everything to become the greatest model in the world, you might not become the one as somebody as influential and as silly as Tyra might not pick you up as they didn't see it in you or didn't care to see. If you get several rejections and nobody is there to encourage you to continue, then you might just give up your dreams and remain miserable for your whole life. My point is that if you feel like a model, then go for it no matter what obstacles might be thrown at you.
If it's about you and who you are, then you have to express it and live it, or else, what is the purpose of living?
