Following numerous requests from our customers, Avalaya team has been working hard (as usual) for the past few weeks in preparation of the Brooches Guide.
Thanks to all our customers, friends, stylists, photographers, web development team and everyone else who helped in preparation of this guide. We tried to include as much information as we could collect, but it is no way could be exhaustive. It is not possible to cover all ideas on how and where to wear brooches as fashion is a moving thing and everyone creates their own style by placing brooches in an unusual place and in unusual way.
At any rate, this guide is a good starting point if you were living on the Moon and do not know what brooches are and also if you are the one who has a small collection of brooches already then you will find some useful tips on how else one could wear a brooch.
Our brooch guide is not a "signed and sealed" project, we are mostly welcome your input on what it is possible to do with a brooch. Hallmark prices(*) took a big drop since last year. For example, if we compare January 2009 to January 2008, the changes are as follows:

22ct Gold dropped 35.6%
18ct Gold dropped 39.6%
14ct Gold dropped 42.5%
9ct Gold dropped 56.2%
Platinum dropped 22.6%,
however silver only dropped 7.8%

This figures only confirm the recent market trend of shoppers going for cheaper jewellery alternatives instead of more expensive fine gold and platinum jewellery. People are still interested in beautiful things, but just have less cash to spare. Fashion jewellery comes at a fraction of the price that you would pay for the similar fine jewellery item, but looks pretty much the same. Unless you are a fine jewellery collector and loaded with cash, in the current economy climate it makes perfect sense to save your finances and buy gold and rhodium plated jewellery from Avalaya.
